Shonda Rhimes’ stars to divorce

After nine years of marriage, Liza Weil and Paul Adelstein are filing for divorce. The two both star in Shonda Rhimes’ popular television shows. Weil stars in “How to Get Away With Murder,” while Adelstein stars in “Scandal”, as well as popular Rhimes programs including “Grey’s Anatomy.” The two are parents of one daughter named Josephine, age 5. Weil has asked for joint custody of the daughter after filing for divorce.

Court papers document the cause of their divorce as “irreconcilable differences.” Liza Weil requested spousal support from Adelstein and the amount of support is to be settled in mediation. The two are continuing to find success in their careers, as Adelstein’s role on a Bravo show “Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce” has been renewed for a second season. Weil is to be featured in the “Gilmore Girls” reboot.

Chris Rock’s ex-wife seeks large amount of $70M assets

Chris Rock’s wife, Malaak Compton-Rock, is seeking a larger portion of her ex’s eight-figure assets to allow her to maintain the lifestyle she had as Rock’s wife, The Daily Mail reported on June 15.

As the ex-couple’s prenup expired, the two are reportedly in a financial battle over how much Compton-Rock should receive.

After getting married in 1996, Compton-Rock gave up her career and became a full-time mom for their two children, Lola Simone, 13, and Zahra, 11. The former couple has already agreed to share custody of the two kids.

Those who have relied on their partner’s income during marriage as they cared for the children are often the hardest hit in a divorce. The Cedar Rapids attorneys at Arenson Law Group, PC, understand how important it is to secure a positive financial situation as you leave your marriage and look towards the future. Child custody issue to be addressed after White House petition

Gossip Girl and Melrose Place actress Kelly Rutherford has been successful in collecting 100,000 signatures in a White House petition to get her two kids back to the country, The Washington Post reported on May 13.

By hitting the 100,000 threshold, the Obama administration is warranted to review and respond to Rutherford’s child custody battle with her ex, German businessman Daniel Giersche. Her two kids, 8-year-old Hermes and 5-year-old Melrose, have been living with their father in France after a judge granted him custody in April 2012. Giersche’s visa was revoked after their split, meaning Rutherford bore the responsibility of traveling to see the children.

Child custody is a critical issue in divorce cases, as the agreed upon living arrangements will affect you and your children for years to come. This is why it is critical to enlist an experienced divorce attorney who fights on behalf of your rights and interests throughout every aspect of your case.
