An improving economy spurs increasing number of divorces

Chief economist of Moody’s Analytics Inc. Mark Zandi stated in an interview that as the economy stabilizes, couples who have held off divorce due to a tough economy may be reconsidering taking this step, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday, February 18.

Mr. Zandi believes that in the coming years, people may witness a steadily-increasing divorce rate in the country. This is because favorable economic times allow couples to take action regarding life-changing events such as divorce. The report also revealed that the country’s positive housing market has created higher house prices, providing more assets for a divorcing couple.
